Hey! I’m Lucy Weatherley
Hey! I’m Lucy, I am currently studying my BA (hons) in Fine Art, I am primarily a landscape painter, but I also dabble in collage. Anything to portray the effect that the environment and certain landscapes have on our memory therefore our emotions. There are studies that show that a place can have a much more significant meaning to people than objects, these emotions and meanings that we link to these places come from the memories we made when we were there, whether it’s the park that you used to play in with your school friends as a child, or the view from the table you sat at in a cafe on your first date, the significance of these experiences make us who we are. I strive to capture these memories and these emotions with my paint brush and some oil paint.
I have recently been looking into the significance of memory in terms of how easy it is forget, how seeing one part of a memory can inspire the entire memory to return.
It is my belief that emotion is evoked within art through the use of colour and texture, therefore I make the colours more vibrant and eye catching, helping to evoke the feelings that were felt within this memory, or on to opposite end of the spectrum, within my work about forgetting memories, I worked in greyscale to portray the loss.
Are you ready to bring your memories to life?
